Why cricket belongs here
AI Masters Barbados is primarily an AI, education and capability platform, but serious Caribbean scholarship is necessarily interdisciplinary. West Indies cricket provides a long-running case through which leadership, labour, governance, regionalism and institutional performance can be examined.
Governance and accountability
Institutional leadership must be assessed through evidence, not only intention. A recurring analytical lens in this work is Benchmarks → Outcomes → Accountability: what baseline was inherited, what outcomes followed, and how should responsibility be evaluated?
Labour and player relations
Professional sport is also work. Player representation, collective bargaining, contracts, compensation and organisational conflict shape the performance environment. Labour analysis therefore belongs within any serious account of cricket governance.
Management and rebuilding
The language of rebuilding can become unfalsifiable if no benchmarks or timelines define what progress means. Management analysis asks whether activity produces outcomes and whether inherited difficulties are being reduced over time.
Identity and regionalism
West Indies cricket is one of the Caribbean’s most visible regional institutions. Its successes and failures therefore carry cultural meaning beyond sport, raising questions about collective identity, small-state cooperation and regional governance.
Historical preservation
Public scholarship on cricket can also function as historical preservation. Documenting arguments, decisions and institutional debates creates a record through which future researchers can understand how the region interpreted its own sporting institutions.
